Gender-Affirming Surgery Support
I offer talk therapy for people at any stage of their gender-affirming surgery journey, with a special focus on supporting those pursuing or recovering from phalloplasty. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and deeply affirming of your autonomy, boundaries, and lived experience.
Gender-affirming surgery can be liberating and life-changing. It can also be complex, emotional, isolating, or overwhelming. Whether you’re in the research phase, navigating consultations and waitlists, preparing for surgery, in recovery, or adjusting to your post-op body, it’s not too early or too late to get support.
Common themes I support clients with:
Decision-making and preparation around surgery and readiness
Medical trauma and navigating dysregulating healthcare systems
Body image, identity integration, and embodiment after surgery
Relationships, intimacy, and erotic recovery
Grief, joy, ambivalence, and everything in between
Post-op emotional processing (especially in later stages, after the logistics fade but the feelings persist)
Navigating complications, revisions, or unexpected emotions
Processing others’ reactions or lack of understanding
Why phalloplasty support matters:
Phallo is demanding process. It often spans years and can include multiple procedures, gatekeeping systems, logistical hurdles, and deeply personal choices. While surgical teams may provide physical care, it’s rare to be offered ongoing emotional and psychological support tailored to this experience.
I bring clinical expertise, personal experience, and community-informed understanding of what phallo can bring up — not just as a surgery, but as a profound chapter in your gender journey.
What our work might look like:
Sessions are guided by your needs and what’s coming up — physically, emotionally, spiritually, relationally, etc. We might slow down and tend to anxiety or grief. We might celebrate moments of joy, integrate stories of change, or gently explore discomfort. We might talk logistics, letters of support, transition timelines, scars, sensation, sex, or silence. reconnect with your body on your own terms.
